EU condoles with kin of those killed in twin blasts in Sulu

(Eagle News)–The European Union delegation to the Philippines on Sunday, Jan. 27, expressed their condolences to the kin of those killed in the twin blasts that rocked Jolo, Sulu earlier.

“I express my solidarity with the Filipino people during these trying times,” Ambassador Franz Jessen said in a statement.

He said Filipinos “have always been resilient,  steadfast,  and collaborative..”

“..And I am certain that these values will see them through in this sad situation,” he said.

A first explosion rocked Mt. Carmel Cathedral around 8:30 a.m., while a Catholic mass was ongoing.

A second blast took place a few minutes later in the parking lot.

At least 20 have been killed in the incident, with 81 injured.

The blasts took place after the Commission on Elections deemed ratified the BOL, which aims to replace the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao with a more autonomous Bangsamoro.

This was after over a million voters in the ARMM voted for the ratification of the law.

Sulu, which is in the ARMM, however, voted against the same.
