(Eagle News)–The founder of “ninja cops” is a retired policeman, National Capital Region Police Office chief Guillermo Eleazar said on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
In his interview over ANC, Eleazar said the “founder,” whom he did not identify while a case buildup was ongoing against him, “is still a non-officer but a senior police non-commissioned officer.”
He said the “founder” had an “intimate relationship” with Guia Gomez Castro, who was identified by police as the one who would buy the recycled illegal drugs from the unscrupulous policemen who sold them.
“He is in the history of ninja cops,” Eleazar said, noting that this started in the early 2000s.
Earlier, Eleazar said 16 policemen who were no longer in active service colluded with Castro in the illegal drugs recycling business or the “agaw-bato” scheme.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency has said over 50, some of them still in active police service, were engaged in the trade.
The Department of Justice has issued a lookout order against Castro, who is believed to be in the United States.
