(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte urged Filipinos to choose only the “best people” as the next senators of the Philippines come 2019.
When he made the call before Overseas Filipino Workers at a hotel in Israel on Sunday, Sept. 2, Duterte was accompanied by Special Assistant to the President Bong Go and Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, among others, who are rumored as eyeing a seat in the Senate in the midterm elections.
“Ngayon hindi ako magsabi na sila ‘yon,” Duterte clarified.
“Marami pang Pilipinong dadating diyan na tatakbo pero please naman, maawa naman kayo sa bayan ninyo. Makikita mo naman ‘yon kung anong ginagawa nang iba,” he added.
The President has said he would ensure clean and honest elections in 2019.
