(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered local government units to look into the structural integrity of their buildings following a series of earthquakes in Mindanao.
Duterte said the LGUs “should start now,” adding that it was unclear when the next earthquake would come, if it does.
The most recent earthquake, a 6.5-magnitude one, caused the collapse of the Eva’s building in Kidapawan, and led to serious damage on Ecoland 4000, a condominium complex in Davao.
Cracks were also seen in the walls of the houses of Duterte and Senator Bong Go in Davao after the quake.
The 6.5-magnitude quake came two days after a 6.6-magnitude one hit the region and left at least eight dead.
