(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte has signed into law a measure that strengthens the Magna Carta for scientists, engineers, researchers, and other science and technology workers in government.
Under Republic Act No. 11312, there is no limit to the honorarium the personnel can receive from externally funded grants.
The employment of scientists who work in the Department of Science and Technology’s priority research and who are due for compulsory retirement may be extended for up to five years under the law.
The law will take effect 15 days after it is published in the Official Gazette or in two newspapers of general circulation.
