(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday, June 28, shrugged off the Communist rebels’ decision to no longer hold peace talks with his administration.
“E di mas mabuti..Ano to, negotiations, negosyo? If they are not willing to talk to me, that’s fine,” the President told reporters in Panglao, Bohol.
According to Duterte, he was just a “worker of government” whose “main task is just to find peace for my country.”
He questioned Sison’s earlier proposal for the two parties to talk outside the Philippines, noting that the government his former professor wanted to “snatch away” was his (Duterte’s).
“Wala akong problema. So we continue with the war. Ano ba naman ang dagdagan natin ng 30 years. Basta alam ng Pilipno na ganun nangyayari. Kung gusto mag-usap punta ka dito. Ayaw mo, e di wag,” Duterte said.
In calling off peace negotiations with Duterte’s administration, Sison cited what he said were the chief executive’s “proven lie” he would free political prisoners, “sell-out” of the West Philippine Sea, non-interest in an independent foreign policy, among others.
