Duterte says he will “not hesitate to declare” revolutionary gov’t if destab moves result in chaos

(Eagle News)– President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday said he would “not hesitate to declare” a revolutionary government if destabilizers are “about to take over the nation” and destabilization efforts result in chaos.

“Pag ang destabilization ninyo patagilid na and medyo magulo na, I will not hesitate to (make the declaration) until the end of my term, and I will arrest all of you and we can go to a full scale war against the Reds,” he said in an interview aired over PTV on Friday night.

Duterte was referring to the communists whom, together with the Liberal Party, he has accused of destabilization moves.

In his speech, he said the Reds–who have “cheapened the lives of (soldiers)”—were the most active in the destabilization attempt, based on the military.

As such, he said the troops would never join the destabilization moves.

He said the declaration of a revolutionary government was done by former President Corazon Aquino, who had wanted to declare martial law at first but then  changed her mind.

He said he would not want  martial law in lieu of the revolutionary government because this would require reporting to Congress.
