Duterte appoints Sta. Romana as new envoy to China

(Eagle News)– President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed broadcast journalist Jose Santiago “Chito” Sta. Romana as the Philippines’ new ambassador to China.

Along with Sta. Romana, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) spokesperson Charles Jose was also named Philippines’ ambassador to Malaysia.

“I accept the nomination with a deep sense of humility and I hope I can live up to the challenge of promoting the country’s interests and improving the relations between the Philippines and China,” Sta. Romana said.

Sta. Romana will assume the post once approved by the Commission on Appointments.

Sta. Romana was the Beijing bureau chief of ABC News.
