Duterte admits he was “offended” by former DDB chair; says Santiago should have sought audience with him instead of dishing out criticisms in media

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday said he was “offended” when former Dangerous Drugs Board Chair Dionisio Santiago criticized the government’s plan to rehabilitate drug addicts in a mega rehabilitation center in Nueva Ecija.

Without directly admitting he had anything to do with Santiago’s resignation, Duterte said the former DDB chair was assigned to that position to “teach” the President about how to do things and not to issue statements to the press.

“Ganito kasi, nagbitaw siya ng salita that it was a waste of money, na it was not the right approach. He was there during the previous administration, bakit hindi niya ginawa? He came up with an incongruous statement, I was offended,” Duterte said.

He said instead of dishing out the comments, Santiago “should have sought an audience with (him).”

“You come up with this deal if you’d like to echo what is popular. Kung sasakay ka lang diyan, (I do not want that),” he said.
