(Eagle News)–The operational dryrun of Sangley airport is on track to take place on Oct. 29, with 95 percent of the airport in Cavite now complete, the Department of Transportation said on Thursday, Oct. 24.
According the DOTR, at present, the completed works include the asphalt overlay and clearing of the end of the runway, the reblocking of concrete pavement, the installation of two pumps including the drainage system, the construction of a ramp, landscaping and streetlight installations, and the construction of an access road, installation of a closed-circuit television camera Ssurveillance system, a counter, weighing conveyor, meteorological equipment, and the mobilization of two modern fire trucks.
The DOTr said only the painting of parking bay markings for the ramp to be finished tomorrow, and the outfitting of four new passenger-friendly chairs in the pre-departure lounge, among others, remain to be completed.
The installation of the flight information system and of the precision path indicator is expected to be completed today.
According to the DOTr, the Philippine Ports Authority has already positioned a pontoon boat in the pier area, where a temporary shelter is expected to rise on October 27.
“A planned ferry service to Manila via MOA in Pasay is intended to be made available for passengers,” the DOTr said.
In June, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade ordered the construction of the Cavite airport after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the transfer of military air base general aviation and turboprop operations there in a bid to decongest the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
