(Eagle News)–The Department of Justice has summoned former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV over the charges of kidnapping with serious illegal detention filed against him.
Trillanes, who was told to appear on October 11 for the preliminary investigation of his case, was also directed to submit his counter-affidavit and other supporting documents.
The charges also against priest Albert Alejo, lawyer Jude Sabio, a certain sister Ling of the Convent of Canossian Sisters, and several John Does and Jane Does were filed by Guillermina Lalic Barrido alias Guillermina Arcillas.
In filing the charges, Arcillas, who had surfaced at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group which assisted her in the filing, alleged she was detained for several days from Dec. 6 to 21, 2016 by the respondents.
According to Arcillas’ affidavit, she was detained at the Convent of Cannussian Sisters in Makati and was later transferred to the Holy Spirit Convent in Quezon City.
During her detention, she said she was forced to sign a “ready-made affidavit” containing allegations of murder and corruption against President Rodrigo Duterte, and linking him to the supposed Davao Death Squad.
Arcillas first surfaced in 2017, alleging she had been “coached” and given money by Trillanes’ group to link Duterte to the illegal drug trade because the issue of extrajudicial killings being floated against him was not working.
Trillanes, however, dismissed her allegations then as “propaganda.”
Trillanes has also denied the kidnapping allegations, noting that the alleged kidnapping took place in 2016 “pero ngayon lang nagfile ng kaso.”
