DILG: Manila Bay “no-sail zone” from Nov. 5 to 16

(Eagle News) — All types of sea vessels will not be allowed to pass by parts of Manila Bay from November 5 to 16.

In a statement, Interior and Local Government officer in charge Catalino Cuy said no vessel will be allowed to pass by the waters of H2O Hotel, Manila to OKADA Hotel, New Seaside Drive in Parañaque City during that period.

“Maximum maritime security is part of our safety preparations to ensure that the short stay of our (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) delegates in our country will be as peaceful, safe, and secure as possible,” he said.Cuy added the shoreline from H2O Hotel to the mouth of Pasig River will be a controlled zone during the same period.

This means, he said, that vessels there will be escorted by patrol boats of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

Cuy noted, however, that the implementation of the no-sail zone and the controlled zone does not include vicinity waters within one nautical mile from those areas.

As for ASEAN vessels, he said they will have to submit their manifest of passengers to the PCG three days prior to docking.

Passenger vehicles, on the other hand, are required to submit theirs a day before docking.

“We are covering all fronts because the safety and security of our delegates is our primordial concern,” he said.

“We therefore request for the full cooperation and understanding of our seafarers so that the upcoming ASEAN summit will be safe and incident-free,” Cuy said.
