(Eagle News)–There are so far no reports of Filipinos being affected by the recent forest fires across the United States’ west coast.
This is according to the Department of Foreign Affairs, which issued the advisory following reports of wildfire destruction across California and other states that has also led to at least 15 deaths.
The wildfires have forced thousands to evacuate, and prompted the deployment of emergency responders who continue to struggle to keep pace with the fires.
The fires have so far destroyed over 900,000 acres of land.
Media reports have said some states are buckling under the strain, with California even calling in a team of firefighters from Israel.
The DFA for its part urged the public to coordinate with the Philippine foreign service posts with jurisdiction over the affected areas—the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles and the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco for “necessary assistance.”
The DFA said they have been releasing “up-to-date” information on the forest fires as well.
