DFA: No reports of Filipinos affected in 5.9-magnitude Iran quake

(Eagle News)–There are so far no reports of Filipinos affected by the 5.9-magnitude earthquake that hit Iran recently, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.

According to the DFA, this was based on a report by the Filipino community  in Tabriz City, who was contacted by the embassy to  ascertain the safety and situation of around 32 Filipino nationals living in the area.

“The DFA stands ready to provide assistance to any affected kababayan,” the agency said.

The 5.9-magnitude quake on Friday, Nov. 8, struck the East Azerbaijan province and left at least five dead and scores injured.
