Cuba was plunged into darkness on Tuesday by a widespread blackout due to damage to its power network caused by Hurricane Ian, state electricity company Union Electrica said.

The country is “without electrical service,” the company tweeted, after the powerful Category 3 storm slammed into the island nation.
