De Lima to PACC: “Don’t bother to send me order to explain GCTA IRR, I might just tear that into pieces”

(Eagle News)–Senator Leila de Lima has slammed the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission, which has asked her to explain the implementing rules and regulations of the  Good Conduct Time Allowance law.

In a short statement, De Lima, who, together with then-Interior Secretary Mar Roxas, crafted the IRR in 2014 when she was justice secretary, said in the first place, she does “not recognize the  PACC’s jurisdiction or authority over me, a sitting Senator.”

“I say to them: Don’t bother to send me any letter or order requiring me to explain or any other paper of similar import. I might just tear that into pieces,” De Lima said.

“Sa kagustuhan nyong magpapogi kay Duterte, nagpapakag*g* kayo!” De Lima added.

Apart from the PACC, the Ombudsman is looking into the IRR of the law that reduces the sentence of inmates based on good conduct, but the Palace has said the PACC should stop its probe and defer to the Ombudsman.

The GCTA law has come under scrutiny following the release of convicts of heinous crimes under the same.

The Palace has said the IRR were to blame, with the  Ombudsman noting that they did not explicitly exclude convicts of heinous crimes from availing of the benefits of the law.

The law, on the other hand, the Ombudsman said, explicitly states convicts of heinous crimes are banned from benefiting from the measure.

The Ombudsman has already asked De Lima and Roxas to submit their explanations.
