De Lima lauds Gordon for not pursuing ethics complaint

(Eagle News)– Senator Leila De Lima on Wednesday (October 5) expressed her gratitude to Senator Richard Gordon for not pursuing the ethics complaint he planned to file against her.

“I sincerely thank him na hindi na niya po itutuloy for the sake of the institution,” De Lima said in an interview.

“We have better things to do in the Senate. Marami pong trabaho ang Senado. And then hindi ho maganda sa imahe ng institusyon na kami mismo nag-aaway-away,” the senator added.

Earlier, Gordon told reporters he wanted to move on from his word war with De Lima.

Tapos na ‘yan. We’ll move forward … Kakausapin ko na lang sila kasi serious ‘yun eh. Pag ethics, serious ‘yun that’s why you always have to watch out,” Gordon said.

Gordon also revealed that the air between him and Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is already clear.

“Senator Trillanes was gentleman enough to come to the office and he said that just so happened that we were very passionate about the cause and that he was going to stop the word war already,” the Senate justice committee chair said.

“I said no problem. We’re gonna be here for a long time. Magsama tayo ng matino para masaya tayo dito,” he added.

Gordon traded lashes with Trillanes during Monday’s Senate inquiry after learning that supposed hitman Edgar Matobato already left the Senate premises before his questioning.

It was in that heated exchange when Gordon called Trillanes “sundalong kanin,” while the latter rebutted that Gordon was a biased chairman of the committee.
