Damage to agri sector due to “Ompong” now at P16.76 billion

(Eagle News) — Damage to the agricultural sector due to Typhoon “Ompong” is now at P16.76 billion, the Department of Agriculture said on Wednesday, Sept. 19.

According to the DA,  affected was “a total of 636,908 hectares of agricultural areas with an estimated volume of production loss at 731,294 metric tons” in the Cordillera Administrative Region, and in Regions 1, 2, 3 and 4A.

Agri-fishery investments worth P16.76 billion were also affected, with the volume of production loss for crops estimated at 731,294 metric tons.

Over 200,000, or 288422 fisherfolk and farmers were also affected.
