(Eagle News) — Authorities seized around P100 million worth of counterfeit goods, the Bureau of Customs said over the weekend.

According to the bureau, the bags bearing the name Louis Vuitton and Gucci, fake medicines and soaps, and unregistered face shields and face masks were discovered in a storage facility in Tondo, Manila on January 25.

Among the face masks discovered were of the brand AIDELAI™ which the bureau said was a prohibited brand based on Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Advisory No. 2021-0011.

The bureau said an inventory is ongoing.

A probe is also underway for the identification of those responsible for the shipment, and for the filing of charges for violation of RA 10863 also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) and the Intellectual Property Law of the Philippines.

“The (BOC) remains steadfast in preventing the proliferation of counterfeit and unauthorized goods in the country as well as safeguarding public welfare under the guidance of Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero,” the bureau said.
