China conducts Massive Military Drill in South China Sea

SOUTH China Sea, July 22 (Eagle News) — Chinese navy’s South China Sea Fleet recently conducted a landing drill to hone its combat capacity.

The drill involved a landing brigade, Marine Corps, amphibious forces and navy helicopter units. The landing formation, namely the “red” side, successfully broke rival army blockades, and transported troops to a landing area after one-day and two-night voyage.

The drill also featured a combined command system. It aimed to test the coordination abilities of the different forces under a real-fire condition.

“Our new type of air-cushioned landing craft debuted at this drill. They carried landing troops to break blockades and successfully made a landfall, living up to our expected goal,” said Ji Hongtao, commander of the “red” side.
