NCR plus areas, Metro Cebu, Metro Davao and other areas with high COVID cases prioritized
(Eagle News) – The Philippine government had its ceremonial vaccination of A4 or economic frontliners’ group on Monday, June 7.
The event was held at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City. Initially those targeted for the ceremonial rollout are economic frontliners in Metro Manila.
Health Undersecretary Dr. Myrna Cabotaje, in an interview with the Eagle News Service program Balitalakayan, which is aired on NET 25 and Radyo Agila DZEC, said that some eight million individuals from the A4 group are targeted for vaccination in the Metro Manila bubble areas, and in Metro Cebu and Metro Davao.
The first phase of the vaccination will be done for two to three months. The first phase involves A4 members in the NCR, Metro Cebu, and Metro Davao, and other densely populated areas with high COVID-19 cases. The second phase are those in the other areas depending on the local government units (LGUs) scheduling.
“Mga 8 million ang target natin, ipa-prioritize kasi kulang pa ang ating mga bakuna,” Cabotaje said of the initial population among the A4 group targeted for vaccination.
The vaccination of those from the A4 group will be done simultaneous with those who have not yet received COVID-19 jabs in the A1 group (health care workers), A2 group (senior citizens), and A3 group (those with comorbidities).
As of Monday, June 7, there are some 9.3 million doses of vaccines which have arrived in the country. The latest delivery was on Sunday morning, June 6, which was the additional 1 million Sinovac doses, bringing to 6.5 million the total Sinovac doses in the country.
Cabotaje said that so far, 5.9 million vaccine doses have already been administered.
Those in the A4 group is categorized into three groups: those in the private sector who work outside their homes; those working in the government, including employees of government operated and controlled corporations (GOCCs) and of LGUs; and those working in the informal sector working outside their homes, including house helpers and family drivers.
