(Eagle News) — Cebu province was placed under General Community Quarantine with heightened restrictions on Sunday, Aug. 1, until Aug. 15, according to Malacanang.

This was after President Rodrigo Duterte approved the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to place Cebu from Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) to GCQ with heightened restrictions.

The provinces of Laguna, Aklan and Apayao, on the other hand, were placed under MECQ from Aug. 1 to 15. Previously, Laguna and Aklan were under GCQ with heightened restrictions, while Apayao was earlier under GCQ.

Cebu, however, reported that their hospitals are already full.

The IATF also approved the shortening of detection to isolation/quarantine interval to less than five days.

It also approved the implementation of giving priority to facility-based isolation and quarantine to prevent household transmission, and making readily available and accessible health care capacities and systems in preparation for case spikes.
