Businessman Washington Sycip passes away at 96

(Eagle News) — Businessman Washington Sycip passed away on Saturday night.

Former Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima made the announcement on his Twitter account.

According to Purisima, Sycip passed away “enroute to New York.”

He was 96 years old.

SyCip, a philanthropist, founded SyCip, Gorres, Velayo & Co, an accounting, tax and auditing firm, in 1946.

He also founded the Asian Institute of Management.

The accountant turned 96 last June 30.
