Body junks Rep. Lagman’s motion for members to explain votes after they are cast

Says votes should be explained after results are announced

(Eagle News) — The body has denied Rep. Edcel Lagman’s motion to amend the rules that will allow members of Congress to explain their votes before they cast them.

But House Majority Floor leader Rudy Fariñas objected to the proposed amendment, saying both Houses–the Senate and the House of Representatives—had already approved the rules that say that an explanation of the votes will take place after the announcement of results.

Earlier, the body approved Senator Franklin Drilon’s motion to allow each member of Congress to interpellate resource persons for a duration of “not more than four minutes,” from just two minutes.
