(Eagle News) – Tropical cyclone warning signal number 1 is up over Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands as Tropical Depression Egay maintained its strength as it moved towards extreme Northern Luzon.
In its 8 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said that the center of tropical depression Egay was estimated as 165 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan.
It is moving northwest at 35 kph with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kph.
It is expected to be outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility tomorrow morning, Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon will bring light to moderate with at times heavy monsoon rains over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Antique, Aklan, and western Iloilo, while cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms is expected over the rest of Luzon and Western Visayas, PAGASA said.
Residents in these areas, especially those living in areas identified to be at high risk of flooding and landslides, are advised to take precautionary measure, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates, especially the Thunderstorm Advisories and Heavy Rainfall Warnings, PAGASA added.
