At least 9 killed, several injured in suspected Abu Sayyaf attack on Basilan village

(Eagle News) — Nine people were killed and 10 others were hurt after suspected Abu Sayyaf members attacked a village in Basilan, early Monday, a report said.

The report quoted Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao  police director, as saying that 30 to 50 armed men attacked Barangay Tubigan around 5:30 a.m.

They reportedly set on fire houses and other structures and attacked residents.

Authorities are in pursuit of the bandits.
