(Eagle News)—-Authorities are eyeing another group in the blast in Sultan Kudarat on Tuesday, Aug. 28, as the death toll rose to three.
A report over dzbb said authorities were looking into the possibility one Abu Turaifie group, led by one Esmail Sheikh Abdulmalik alias Abu Turaifie, was behind the incident in Isulan that also injured over 30 others.
The Philippine National Police said the group claimed to have ties with the Islamic State.
Earlier, authorities said they suspected the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters were behind the attack that took place during town festivities.
Meanwhile, one Wel Mark John Lapidez, who had been left in a coma after his head was hit by shrapnel in the blast, passed away in a hospital, increasing the death toll to three.
Earlier, a woman and a 7-year-old child were also killed in the blast that took place during town festivities.
The attack took place after President Rodrigo Duterte signed the Bangsamoro Organic Law that creates a Bangsamoro entity with greater autonomy.
