Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde on Wednesday, June 6, vowed to “dig deeper” into the killing of an assistant special prosecutor in Quezon City on Monday, June 4.

Albayalde made the statement even after the police ruled the motive for the killing of Madonna Joy Tanyag was robbery.

The suspect, Angelito Avenido Jr., has been arrested.

“Sa atin naman, we assure them na we will dig deeper kung talagang mayroon pa tayong makikita dito.  Sabi ko nga we consider this na case solved. We never considered it as closed..Ipupush pa rin natin,” Albayalde said.

To ensure the protection of prosecutors, Albayalde said they were entitled to bear arms if they had the necessary legal license.

“We promised them that we will process them. Kung talagang legal naman yung kanilang mga licenses, wala namang problema,” he said.

Albayalde was accompanied by National Capital Region Police Office director Guillermo Eleazar during the visit to the wake, which was closed to the media.

Tanyag was about to board her vehicle after buying milk tea at a shop on Visayas Ave. in Barangay Vasra when she was attacked allegedly by Avenido.

Tanyag sustained three stab wounds and was rushed to the East Ave. Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
