(Eagle News)– The police have arrested a suspect in the killing of former La Union Rep. Eufranio Eriguel over the weekend.
Philippine National Police Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said Felizardo Villanueva, a candidate for the barangay captain post in Capaz, La Union, was now detained.
The arrest came only days after Eriguel, who was a member of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Laban, was shot dead while he was delivering a speech in Barangay Capas, Agoo.
His two bodyguards were also killed in the incident.
The police have said the motive for the killing has yet to be determined.
