(Eagle News)–Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde does not believe the recycling of illegal drugs in the country is rampant.
In an interview over CNN Philippines on Tuesday, Sept. 24, Albayalde noted that Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Chief Aaron Aquino, who said such a practice was rampant among law enforcers, was only referring to one incident of illegal drugs recycling.
“If you’re talking about one incident, that’s not rampant,” Albayalde said.
He said the PNP in particular was already cleaning its ranks to rid the organization of police scalawags.
Aquino made the comment about illegal drugs recycling being trampant among law enforcers, including among PDEA agents to a Senate panel hearing the PDEA’s proposed budget last week.
This was after he revealed operations were ongoing against the woman who would supposedly buy the recycled illegal drugs from the unscrupulous enforcers.
Former Criminal Investigation and Detective Group chief Benjamin Magalong recently told a joint Senate panel looking into the problems in the Bureau of Corrections that several high-ranking police officials were involved in the practice.
