African Swine Fever reaches Pangasinan; at least 71 pigs culled

(Eagle News) — African Swine Fever (ASF) has reached Pangasinan after blood samples of hogs suspected to be suffering from ASF tested positive for the virus.

Fifteen of the 30 blood samples taken from pigs in Barangau Balolin in Mapandan town tested positive for ASF.

Because of this, at least 71 pigs were culled to prevent the disease from further spreading.

It was learned that at least 60 of these pigs came from Bulacan.

Pangasinan governor Amado Espino III has already directed stricter and strengthened animal quarantine checkpoints.
