Abella: Discretion to suspend work, classes in private schools, private companies on Sept. 21 left to these institutions

(Eagle News) — Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella on Tuesday clarified that private companies and schools would be the ones to determine whether there would be classes and work in their respective institutions on Sept. 21.

Abella made the clarification as he announced that the Palace would, within the day, release a memorandum circular specifying that there would be no work in government offices–both local and national—nor classes in public schools  and state universities and colleges on Thursday.

This is in line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of the commonly known date of the declaration of martial law this year as the “national day of protest.”

He said all government security forces have been told to stay away from centers of mass action on that day.
