6.0-magnitude earthquake strikes off Davao Oriental

(Eagle News) — A 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Oriental on Thursday, May 5.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the quake hit at 4:21 p.m.

The epicenter was 129 kilometers southeast of Tarragona.

The depth of focus was 17 kilometers.

Intensity IV – Tarragona, Caraga and Mati City, Davao Oriental;

Intensity III – Cateel and Manay, Davao Oriental; Tagum City and Asuncion, Davao del Norte; Nabunturan, Davao de Oro; Malungon, and Alabel, Sarangani;Davao City; Tampakan, South Cotabato

Intensity II – Tupi, South Cotabato; General Santos City; Kiamba, Sarangani

Intensity I – Santo Niño, South Cotabato; Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat

Instrumental Intensities:

Intensity III – Malungon and Alabel, Sarangani

Intensity II – Davao City; Tupi, and Koronadal City, South Cotabato; Glan, and Kiamba, Sarangani; Nabunturan, Davao De Oro

Intensity I – T’boli, South Cotabato; Maasim, Sarangani; Kidapawan City, Cotabato; Kidapawan City

No damage to property was expected but aftershocks were.
