MANILA, Philippines (Eagle News) – Newly-elected Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno is pursuing his plan to have a film festival that features independent or “indie” films.

Moreno announced his plans for a Manila Indie Film Festival, recalling how he started in showbiz before he entered in politics in 2010.

He said that the independent film festival can run for at least three days in Manila.

“At least three days magkaroon sila ng outlet na sila lang ang sikat sa Manila,” he said in a recent interview.

Moreno said he wants to give back to the industry where he started.

If Amsterdam can do it, if New York can do it, San Francisco can do it, we will have a pride parade in the City of Manila. Palambutin natin ang karakter ng Maynila, ng Maynila na hindi lamang puro tapang,” he said.

Moreno hopes that his plan for a “Manila Indie Film Festival” can bring vibrance back to Manila which he aims to be also center of culture.   (Jarylle Renz Victoriano)
