(Eagle News) — The chair of the airline whose plane skidded off a Ninoy Aquino International Airport runway on Thursday, resulting in canceled and diverted flights,  has apologized.

Che Shanglun of Xiamen Airlines chair said in a statement three days after flight number MF8667 overshot the 06/24 runway that the company would “do its utmost to assist.”

“At the same time, all flights from Xiamen Airlines to the Philippines will be carried out normally to provide air transportation services for passengers,” the official said.

He said the airline company was “fully cooperating with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and the Civil Aviation Administration of China to investigate the cause of the incident.”

“After the incident…Manila International Airport made a lot of efforts to help us to settle the passengers and move the aircraft from the runway. Thanks to Manila Airport for its support to Xiamen Airlines,” he said.
