US Embassy official visits Trillanes, others

(Eagle News) — The political officer of the United States Embassy visited several senators, including Antonio Trillanes IV.

Josh Morris, chief of the internal political unit of the US Embassy, paid the senators a visit on Wednesday, Sept. 19, based on an entry in the Senate logbook.

He listed “various senators” as the target of his visit.

Apart from Trillanes, among the others he reportedly visited were Senators Tito Sotto and Gregorio Honasan.

Sotto confirmed the visit, saying it was merely a courtesy call.

Trillanes, however, did not confirm nor deny the information.

“I cannot confirm yung mga ganyang klaseng  information. I will not confirm nor deny for that matter,” Trillanes said in a press conference.

“Well, siguro ganun na lang,” when told Morris had been seen entering and leaving his office.

Trillanes has been holed up in the Senate since early September, when news of the issuance of Proclamation No. 572 that declared void ab initio the amnesty granted to him for the Oakwood mutiny and the Peninsula Manila siege in 2003 and 2007, respectively, broke.

Trillanes recently said he would not leave until the court resolves with finality the issue on whether or not the proclamation was constitutional.
