Two policemen in Arnaiz, De Guzman slays plead not guilty

P01 Ricky Arquilita (L) and P01 Jeffrey Perez (R)

(Eagle News) — The two policemen in the Carl Arnaiz and Reynaldo de Guzman slays have pleaded not guilty to the cases filed against them.

PO1 Jeffrey Perez and P01 Ricky Arquilita entered their plea during the arraignment on Tuesday at the Caloocan City Regional Trial Court Branch 122.

Perez and Arquilita are facing cases for murder, torture, and planting of evidence in connection with the deaths of Arnaiz and De Guzman last year.

The two teenagers were last seen together in August.

Arnaiz turned up in a Caloocan morgue 10 days later, while a body believed to be De Guzman’s was found in a creek in Gapan, Nueva Ecija afterwards.

In filing the criminal case against Arquilita and Perez, the DOJ  gave weight to the testimonies of taxi driver Tomas Bagcal and Joe Daniel, who alleged he saw Arnaiz kneeling when he was killed.
