Two other suspects in Batocabe slay surrender to authorities

(Eagle News)—Two other suspects in the killing of Rep. Rodel Batocabe surrendered to authorities on Saturday, Jan. 5.

Police said Rolando Aromado and Danilo Muella were the next to surrender after Henry Yuson, the alleged main gunman, and Jaywin Babor, the alleged driver of the getaway motorcycle used in the attack in December last year that also killed SP01 Orlando Diaz, Batocabe’s security escort, and injured six others.

With Aromado’s and Muella’s surrender, only Daraga, Albay Mayor Carlwyn Baldo, who was tagged as the mastermind of the killing, remains at large.

Earlier, suspects Christopher Naval and Emmanuel Roselio surrendered to authorities.

Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde said the killing of Batocabe was politically motivated, noting that based on investigation, the assassination plot against him had been hatched in August 2018, after Batocabe announced plans to run for mayor of Daraga.

Baldo has denied the allegations against him.
