Two Nueva Vizcaya police officials relieved over “mishandled” evidence in Malayao killing

(Eagle News)–Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde has ordered the relief of top Nueva Vizcaya police officials over the alleged mishandling of evidence in the killing of Randy Malayao.

In a statement on Friday, Feb. 1, PNP spokesperson Senior Supt. Bernard Banac said relieved were Senior Supt. Jeremias Aglugub, director of the Nueva Vizcaya Police Provincial Office, and Chief Insp. Geovanni Cejes, chief of the Aritao Municipal Police Station.

Banac said  Chief Supt. Jose Mario Espino, director of Police Regional Office 2, will designate who will replace the two officers.

Malayao, a National Democratic Front of the Philippines consultant, was killed while he was sleeping on board a bus on Wednesday, Jan. 30.

Initial investigation showed the gunman boarded the bus at a bus stop.
