(Eagle News) – United States President Donald Trump hit his critics who had nothing good to say about his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore, as he stressed the importance of his talk with Kim which he said prevented a “potential nuclear catastrophe.”

Trump pointed out that before the historic summit with Kim on Tuesday, June 12, many were talking about conciliation and peace and had wanted the meeting to push through. But when it did, his “haters” said that it was a wrong move for the US president.

“A year ago the pundits & talking heads, people that couldn’t do the job before, were begging for conciliation and peace – ‘please meet, don’t go to war.’,” he said in his tweet a few hours after his summit with Kim — the first between a US president and a North Korean leader.

“Now that we meet and have a great relationship with Kim Jong Un, the same haters shout out, ‘you shouldn’t meet, do not meet!’,” Trump tweeted.

In a series of tweets, Trump also highlighted how the problem on North Korea was resolved with his historic summit with Kim in Singapore, and that a possible war had been averted.

He even took a swipe at former US President Barack Obama who had talked before about the problem on North Korea, and its provocative actions.

Trump said that at present, “there is no longer a nuclear threat from North Korea.”

“Just landed – a long trip, but everybody can now feel much safer than the day I took office. There is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea. Meeting with Kim Jong Un was an interesting and very positive experience. North Korea has great potential for the future!,” he said in a tweet on Wednesday, June 13, just after landing in the US from his successful summit in Singapore a day before.

“Before taking office people were assuming that we were going to War with North Korea. President Obama said that North Korea was our biggest and most dangerous problem. No longer – sleep well tonight!,” he said in his tweet.

The US President said that his talk with Kim was a great move for peace.

-Big step back from potential nuclear catastrophe-

“The World has taken a big step back from potential Nuclear catastrophe! No more rocket launches, nuclear testing or research! The hostages are back home with their families. Thank you to Chairman Kim, our day together was historic!,” he said in his tweet on the heels of his historic summit with the North Korean leader in Singapore.

Trump also thanked Kim for his “bold step,” saying that their summit proved that “real change is possible.”

“I want to thank Chairman Kim for taking the first bold step toward a bright new future for his people. Our unprecedented meeting – the first between an American President and a leader of North Korea – proves that real change is possible!” the US leader said.   (Eagle News Service)
