Trillanes wants Dennis Uy invited to Senate panel telco hearing

(Eagle News) — Senator Antonio Trillanes IV wants Dennis Uy to be invited to the Senate panel hearing on Mislatel, the country’s third major telecommunications player.

According to Trillanes, this is because he wants to ask Uy directly about how Mislatel, which is composed of Uy’s Udenna Corp. and its subsidiary Chelsea Logistics Holdings Corp, and China Telecom and Mindanao Islamic Telephone Co., bagged the contract on Nov. 19.

“The public would like to know who won the third telco, and it’s very important for the Filipino to scrutinize this,” Trillanes said during the Senate Committee on Public Services’ hearing on Tuesday, Nov. 27.

Although Uy was absent on Tuesday’s hearing, Mislatel was represented by its spokesperson Adel Tamano and other high-ranking officials.

Critics have pointed out that Uy contributed to President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign when he was running for president in the 2016 elections.
