(Eagle News) – Senator Antonio Trillanes IV thanked Makati regional trial court branch 148 judge Andres Soriano for what he said was his action of “singlehandedly upholding justice” when he dismissed the motion seeking his arrest earlier filed by the Department of Justice.

Speaking to senate reporters shortly after receiving a copy of the court’s resolution, Trillanes said Soriano gave him hope that justice could still be attained in the country.

“Singlehandedly, he upheld justice and the rule of law in our country despite extreme pressure coming from the Duterte regime,” the senator said, commending Judge Soriano for issuing the resolution that had junked the DOJ’s motion on Monday, Oct. 22.

Tayo po ay nabubuhayan ng loob na meron pang pag-asa dito po sa ating bayan, and he is personified by Judge Soriano at this point,” Trillanes said.

He also thanked members of the media for what he said was their vigilant coverage of his case and his situation.

“This is a very critical issue at this point in history,” he said.

Trillanes said it was clear in Soriano’s decision that he had applied for amnesty and that he had admitted guilt for his crime.

He said that this issue would ultimately be resolved by the Supreme Court.

Trillanes said he has been “energized” by the Makati RTC judge’s decision that favored him.

Lalo tayong punung puno ng energy ngayon. Bantay lang sila, talagang nakabuwelo na tayo ngayon,” he told reporters.
