Trillanes opposes reopening of Mamasapano massacre probe by Senate

QUEZON City, Philippines  (Eagle News) — Senator Antonio Trillanes is against the proposed re-opening of the investigation of the Mamasapano massacre after the Office of Ombudsman filed charges against former President Benigno Aquino III for his role in the tragedy that killed 44 Special Action Force (SAF) troopers.

Trillanes criticized Senate Committee on Justice Chairman Richard Gordon for allegedly prioritizing fault-finding against the former president while allegedly delaying the thousands of complaints pending in his committee regarding extra-judicial killings.

“Mas aatupagin pa ni Sen. Gordon yung nakaraang issue na piniga nang husto ng dating Kongreso pero yung mga libu-libong pinapatay na Pilipino sa kasalukuyan, wala siyang panahon,” Trillanes said.
