Trillanes on Duterte’s power naps: “Di siya ginastusan para matulog”

(Eagle News)—Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Saturday, Nov. 17, lashed out at President Rodrigo Duterte for taking power naps and missing some Association of Southeast Asian Nations events in Singapore.

The President, however, who attended thee remaining events, was represented by Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddy Boy Locsin in those events he was unable to attend.

“Unang-una eh ‘di sana inagahan niya ang alis, sana nakarating sila the night before,” Trillanes said in a radio interview.

According to Trillanes, ‘Di siya ginastusan para matulog.”

He said “it’s either malubha ang kalagayan niya o talagang tamad siya at iresponsable, kasi ‘di ka naman pumunta diyan as Duterte.”

“Dito mo makikita na talagang walang kadisi-disiplina itong taong ito, walang respect for any authority, regulation or duty,” Trillanes said.

The Palace, however, defended Duterte’s naps, saying the events he missed were not missed opportunities.

It added there were other world leaders who were also unable to attend the other events.

They were, however, like Duterte, also duly represented in those events, the Palace said.

After the 33rd ASEAN summit, the President proceeded to Papua New Guinea for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic Leaders Meeting.

The President attended some APEC-related events on Saturday but cut short his trip to Papua New Guinea citing “urgent domedtic developments.”
