Trillanes: Number of illegal drug users decreased because they were killed in Duterte drug war

(Eagle News)–Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Wednesday, Feb. 20, said the number of illegal drug users in the country decreased because they were killed under the administration’s drug war.

“..Their number reduced because you did the most simplistic, most ruthless and most barbaric option there is: you had your countrymen killed even on mere suspicion of drug use,” Trillanes said, referring to President Rodrigo Duterte.

It was Trillanes who helped file a communication against Duterte over the deaths in the drug war.

But the President  remained unfazed, saying those who were killed were merely those who attacked authorities who were out to arrest them.

A Social Weather Stations survey in December 2018 later found 66 percent of Filipinos believe the number of illegal drug users decreased in their areas.

“Mr. Duterte, let me break it down for you like you’re a 5-year old. If you were able to reduce the number of addicts because they were rehabilitated; the drug lords were imprisoned; and the shabu supply stopped; then you can say that your anti-drug program is effective,”  Trillanes said.
