Thousands of passengers stranded in Bicol, eastern Visayas ports due to “Urduja”

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — The Philippine Coast Guard reported that a total of 3, 052 passengers were stranded in different ports in the Bicol region and eastern Visayas due to Tropical Depression Urduja.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Administration Services (PAGASA) advisory posted at 4:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Storm “URDUJA” was estimated based on all available data at 85 kilometers east southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar (10.7 °N, 126.4 °E).

It has maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph, and is forecast to move west at 7 kilometers per hour.

It is expected to make landfall over Eastern Samar tomorrow morning.

PAGASA then advised fishing boats and other small sea-craft not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.
