There is “man” in “manicure”

GroomQUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News Service, July 28) – One of the pleasant developments in the male psyche in these modern times is the fact that men can take steps to properly groom themselves without others questioning their manliness.

Yes guys, it is not strange to get a manicure and pedicure. It is actually part of good and proper grooming. Having clean fingernails and toenails is a sign that you take good care of your body.

So, what should you consider when getting a mani/pedi?

Getting a regular manicure and pedicure is necessary for the health of your hands and feet. It removes the dead skin, thus preventing build-up that can cause problems down the line. You should ask your manicurist to exfoliate said dead skin.

You should also ask for your cuticles to be cleaned to remove unsightly and painful hang nails.

You can also maintain those freshly manicured hands at home using a nail file.

When you have time, soak your hands and feet in warm, soapy water to keep your hands soft and moisturize. Finish off with a non-scented moisturizing cream.

Finally, don’t ever allow the manicurist to apply clear nail polish. This is the biggest faux pas committed by men who have their nails done. Instead, ask the manicurist to buff your nails for that extra shine.
