Sultan Kudarat police officials sacked over two bombings in Isulan in span of six days

(Eagle News) — Sultan Kudarat police officials have been relieved from their posts following the two bombings in Isulan in a span of six days.

PNP spokesperson Benigno Durana Jr. announced the relief of PNP Region 12 Director Eliseo Tam Rasco, Sultan Kudarat Provincial Director Noel Kinazo and Isulan Chief of Police Celestino Daniel Jr. as he reported that another person had died in the second blast at a computer shop in Barangay Kalawag 2 on Sunday, Sept. 2.

Durana identified the her as 15-year-old Marialyn Lupa.

Lupa is a relative of the first fatality–John Mark Lupa.

“We extend our sympathies to the Lupa family and strongly condemn this senseless act of terror done for whatever motive the perpetrators may have,” Durana said.

According to Durana, there were “gaps” in the security measures that were put in place.

He said the relief of the officials will “also pave the way for a thorough and impartial investigation into Sunday’s incident, and another similar incident earlier.”

The first bombing took place on Aug. 28.

It left at least three people killed and several injured.

Authorities have said they were looking at the possibility the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters were behind the attacks.
