Sereno gives assurance she will win in quo warranto case

(Eagle News) — Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno on Saturday, May 5, gave the assurance she would win in the quo warranto case filed against her.

“I am hopeful that young people will not be disappointed because victory is in the air, not because we are good in relying on number, but on the voices of people,” Sereno, who has been on leave since March 1, said in “The Mumshie on Fire: Speak Truth To Power” forum in Quezon City.

According to Sereno, “good will always prevail over evil.”

“Even when they thought they have won, in the end, they will never win. The country is already woke. The youth would not listen to lies. The people own the judiciary. They are not owned by the judiciary, the justices, the judges,” Sereno said.

The Supreme Court is slated to vote on the quo warranto petition filed by Solicitor General Jose Calida on May 11.

The petition seeks to have Sereno’s appointment as Chief Justice nullified.

Sereno is also facing an impeachment complaint in Congress, which is slated to resume session on May 15.
