SC temporarily blocks Mandaluyong court’s order stopping gov’t from interfering in Angkas operations

(Eagle News) — The Supreme Court has temporarily blocked a local court’s order preventing the government from interfering in Angkas’ operations.

The High Court’s second division issued the temporary restraining order on Mandaluyong Regional Trial Court Branch 213 Judge Carlos Valenzuela’s Aug. 18 order as it resolves the petition for certiorari filed by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board and the Department of Transportation before it.

In the Aug. 20 order, Valenzuela also stopped the LTFRB and the DOTr from apprehending Angkas bikers and from performing any act that will impede the ride-sharing firm’s operations.

The second division also ordered Angkas and Valenzuela to comment on the petition for certiorari filed by the two government agencies within 10 days from notice.

It also directed the LTFRB to pay the lacking amount of P1,000 for the sheriff’s trust fund, and to provide a clear original copy or a certified true copy of the assailed order of Valenzuela.
